Instructions for use Pirantel 250 mg 3 pcs. pills
Anthelmintic.
Pyrantel is an anthelmintic agent that acts on nematodes.
Causes a neuromuscular blockade in helminths sensitive to it, which facilitates their removal from the digestive tract without agitation and stimulation of migration of affected worms.
The drug acts on parasites in the early phase of development and on their mature forms, but does not affect larvae during their migration in tissues.
Pyrantel is effective against infestations caused by pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis), hookworms (Ancylostoma doudenale, Necator americanus), against pathogens of trichocephalosis (Trichocephalus trichiurus) and ascariasis (Ascaris lumbricoides).

The drug is used during or after meals, chewing the tablet thoroughly with 1 glass of water.
Unless another treatment regimen is prescribed, depending on the patient's age and body weight, the following dosages are recommended:
Patient age 3-6 years - 1 tablet 250 mg;
Patient age 6-12 years - 2 tablets 250 mg;
Patient age over 12 years and adults weighing up to 75 kg - 3 tablets of 250 mg;
Adults weighing more than 75 kg - 4 tablets of 250 mg.
To prevent re-infection, the course can be repeated 3 weeks after the first dose.
For ascariasis and enterobiasis, as well as mixed infestations by these parasites, the dose intended for the entire course (at the rate of 10 mg/kg) is applied once.
For hookworm disease, a combination of necatoriasis with ascariasis, or other combined helminth infections, pyrantel is used for 3 days at a dose of 10 mg/kg per day.
For massive infestations of Necator americanus, the recommended dose is 20 mg/kg body weight for 2 days.
Overdose
Symptoms: increased dose-dependent side effects.
Treatment: symptomatic therapy. There is no specific antidote.
Precautions and special instructions
After taking Pirantel, laxatives are not prescribed.
When treating enterobiasis, all persons living together should be treated at the same time.
Careful hygiene (cleaning living quarters and washing clothes to destroy helminth eggs) serves to prevent reinfections. 14 days after treatment with Pirantel, control parasitological studies should be carried out.
In case of liver disease, you should notify your doctor.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
Considering the possible side effects on the nervous system during use of the drug, caution must be exercised when engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.
